This post demonstrates the ESV Bible verse integration with both inline and block display modes.

Inline Verses

In Romans 8:28, Paul reminds us that God works all things together for the good of those who love him — a comforting truth during difficult seasons. He also addresses anxiety in Philippians 4:6-7, encouraging believers to bring everything to God in prayer.

Perhaps no single verse captures the heart of the gospel more clearly than John 3:16, a passage that has been shared across generations.

Block Verses

Here is a well-known passage on trusting the Lord:

[5] Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. [6] In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)·

And one of the most beloved Psalms:

A Psalm of David. [1] The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. [2] He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. [3] He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Psalm 23:1-3 (ESV)·

How It Works

Verses listed in the frontmatter verses array are fetched from the ESV API at build time and cached. The <BibleVerse> component renders them in two ways:

  • Inline (default) — hover or click a reference to see the passage in a popover. Click the reference link in the popover to read it on esv.org.
  • Block — renders the passage as a styled blockquote with attribution.

Both modes include proper ESV copyright attribution linking to esv.org.
