Testing Bible Verse Integration
February 20, 2026This post demonstrates the ESV Bible verse integration with both inline and block display modes.
Inline Verses
In
Perhaps no single verse captures the heart of the gospel more clearly than
Block Verses
Here is a well-known passage on trusting the Lord:
[5] Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. [6] In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
And one of the most beloved Psalms:
A Psalm of David. [1] The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. [2] He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. [3] He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
How It Works
Verses listed in the frontmatter verses array are fetched from the ESV API at build time and cached. The <BibleVerse> component renders them in two ways:
- Inline (default) — hover or click a reference to see the passage in a popover. Click the reference link in the popover to read it on esv.org.
- Block — renders the passage as a styled blockquote with attribution.
Both modes include proper ESV copyright attribution linking to esv.org.
